158MINER'S LETTUCECert. BD/OG(Claytonia perfoliata)40 days.Native to the American northwest. The wonderfully tender, mild leaves and stems grow quickly in cool spring and fall temperatures. Sow outside in early spring or in fall for overwintering in milder climates. It also works well as a winter greenhouse or cold frame crop. Will easily self seed, but is easy to pull out if no longer wanted.

Mild and nutty with an aromatic finish, this winter green has long been treasured in Europe and now is finding a following in the US.This strain was given to us by Henrike Holdrege of The Nature Institute. New York Hardy is the hardiest variety we've come across, it has overwintered uncovered outdoors here in Upstate NY for the last 16 years. Plant in greenhouse or outside in early spring or mid-fall.

Pungent salad green with long, dark-green, lobed leaves in a loose open rosette with a piquant nutty flavor. Our variety can grow to a larger size than most others, and as it matures the flavor deepens. While baby greens and micro mix are much sought after, for our own salads we feel the depth of flavor is worth waiting for. Classic in a salad with pears, roasted hazelnuts, crumbly blue cheese and balsamic vinaigrette.

157GARDEN CRESSCert. BD(Barbarea verna)35-45 days. Back Again!! Also known as Land Cress and Upland Cress. Spicy, water-cress flavored rosettes of dark green, deeply lobed leaves that grow well in spring and fall. Excellent in salad mixes, sandwiches, or on its own. This is one of the most intensely flavorful salad greens we know of. Protect from flea beetles by starting indoors, then planting out into beds covered with a thin layer of mulch. Does very well as a winter coldframe or hoophouse green.

159PEPPER CRESSCert. BD/OG(Lepidum sativum)10-14 days.Peppery-warm flavor makes a great salad addition. Frillier leaves than Garden Cress. For a steady supply do multiple sowings through early spring until weather warms and start again in early fall, or transplant and harvest larger leaves from the stalks as they grow. A quick cut-and-come-again salad ingredient.
